USA Gymnastics Region 8 Championships this Weekend

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Sports Authority and the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center are ready to host the 2015 USA Gymnastics Region 8 (Level 7 & 8) Championships presented by the Mobile Sports Authority, April 24-26, in downtown Mobile. The three-day event is brought to the area by the Mobile Sports Authority and Planet Gymnastics, along with assistance from the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.  

This weekend’s event will bring in approximately 600 athletes (girls ages 11 and up) to Mobile from eight southeastern states (AL, FL, GA, MS, LA, NC, SC, and TN), who will be competing on four apparatus – beam, bars, floor and vault. Joining the participants in town will be their coaches, families, friends and other supporters.  

The championship begins at 8 a.m. Friday and Sunday and 9 a.m. Saturday. A total of 10 sessions will be completed over the three-day event. Admission is $15 daily for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12 and senior citizens. Children under the age of five are free.
