MOBILE, Ala. – The King of the Wing National Sprint Car Shootout Presented by the Mobile Sports Authority will be the main event at Mobile International Speedway (MIS) in Irvington this Saturday, April 2nd at 7 p.m. CT. Saturday’s schedule will include the Winged Warriors as a stop along their southern swing. The winged Sprint Cars are the fastest cars to hit the short-track, reaching speeds near 160 MPH! The King of the Wing Sprint Car Shootout Presented by the Mobile Sports Authority will serve as an exciting forerunner to the Southern Super Late Model Series presented by the Mobile Sports Authority kicking off next month! The Southern Super Late Model Series, also supported by the Mobile County Marketing Committee, will consist of one race per month at Mobile International Speedway from May through August.

MIS Promoter/PA Announcer Bill Roth commented, “These Sprint Cars are the fastest short track race cars in the world.  They keep the throttle wide-open all the way around the track and it is something to see.  Driver’s from 8 states and Canada will be racing around the ½-mile oval of MIS this weekend, including the world’s fastest female Sprint Car driver, Sierra Jackson. The weather looks great for Saturday, so we encourage fans to come on out. It should be quite a show.”

Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority added, “Racing has been an important part of the Mobile area’s sports tradition for over 50 years. So when this King of the Wing event as well as the Southern Super Series was initially pitched to us, we immediately realized these races would be great events to add to our area’s annual sports calendar. As we’ve seen over the last three years, the races have been very successful and we at the Mobile Sports Authority are proud to be a partner in these events.”
