The Biggest Loser Runwalk Returns to Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The Biggest Loser RunWalk Half Marathon/5K series is excited to announce its return to downtown Mobile, Alabama on April 19, 2015. From the first-time walker to the avid runner, participants are encouraged to get off the couch and hit the pavement in the Deep South.            

Registration is now open for the event, which costs $40 for the half marathon and $20 for the 5K through January 31, 2015. The One-Mile Kids Fun Run is $15. Online registration will remain open until April 15, 2015, or until the race sells out.
Registration includes a commemorative “The Biggest Loser” RunWalk shirt, finisher’s medal, free downloadable race photos, a chance to meet with former “Biggest Loser” contestants and much more. The half marathon and 5K are chip-timed for participants tracking personal goals with awards given to the top runners and walkers.             

The Biggest Loser RunWalk not only wants to thank the Mobile Sports Authority for reaching out to showcase the Mobile area, but also for helping to coordinate the details for the race weekend.
           

“The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA) and Mobile, Alabama are proud to again be hosting The Biggest Loser Half-Marathon/5K Run/Walk in our beautiful area,” states Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority. “We in Mobile are thrilled to have the opportunity to host another Biggest Loser Run/Walk event which strives to provide individuals with an atmosphere that uplifts, encourages, and celebrates them as they move toward their personal health and fitness goals.”


Local Race Director Peggy Olive added, “The Biggest Loser Run/Walk will offer the opportunity for folks to compete in half marathon or 5K events, meet national celebrities, see Mobile from a different perspective, and generally just have fun.”

Dan and Jackie Evans from Season 5 will return to the event along with Alabama native Gina McDonald and other former contestants who will be named at a later date.
           

The Health and Fitness Meet ‘n’ Greet will be held Saturday, April 18 from 11 – 4 p.m.
in the Bienville Ballroom at the Holiday Inn Downtown Historic District in downtown Mobile, featuring packet pick up, guest speakers and much more. All are encouraged to attend and get inspired for race day. This event is free and open to the public.
           

The race will take place rain or shine and will be staged out of Mardi Gras Park in downtown Mobile, starting at 7:30 a.m. for the half marathon and 8:00 a.m. for the 5K.
McDonald will be present at the start line to help kick the race off in hopes to inspire others to be healthy and fit. She was the at-home winner of Season 14’s “The Biggest Loser” with a total weight loss of 113 pounds.

This event will also include a kids’ one-mile fun run for ages 4-12 beginning at noon. After the race, participants, family and friends can celebrate and relax at the post-race concert featuring former “The Biggest Loser” contestant and Nashville recording artist, Dan Evans.
