Southern Super Series to Take Final Lap of the 2015 Season at Mobile International Speedway

Aug 17th, 2015

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA), the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Mobile International Speedway (MIS) welcome back the Southern Super Late Model Series (SSS) this Saturday evening, August 22, for their 4th and final race of the 2015 season at the Speedway. The line-up features the 12th annual Lee Fields Memorial presented by Racing Radios, which for the first time, will be a 150-lap SSS race. All previous Southern Super Series races have been 100-lap events. The Lee Fields Memorial is named in honor of late MIS owner and operator Lee Fields.

The racing line-up will also feature five local divisions. Those divisions consist of Super Stocks, Pro Trucks, Sportsmen, Bombers, and for a special appearance, Vintage cars. SSS qualifying rounds begin at 5:30 PM with racing beginning promptly at 7 PM.

“Once again we welcome the Southern Super Series back to Mobile International Speedway,” said Danny Corte, Executive Director of the MSA. “We’re really looking forward to this weekend’s race as we once again honor Lee Fields and his contributions to racing in the Mobile area. We hope area racing fans will get out to MIS this Saturday to take in the action as the season winds down.”

Going into the fourth and final 2015 SSS race at MIS, Casey Smith still leads in points on the scoreboard. However, 2014’s SSS winner Bubba Pollard dominated the Gulf Coast racing scene last month with back-to-back wins in Pensacola and Mobile. These victories bring Pollard to a SSS record total of 10 career wins. It was also his 21st career Late Model win at MIS.
