Mobile to Host AHSAA Umpires Camp

May 27th, 2015

Mobile is set to host the 2015 AHSAA State Baseball Umpires Camp presented by the Mobile Sports Authority this weekend, May 28-31. The event will be hosted by the Metro Mobile Umpires Association, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), as well as the Mobile Sports Authority.

The umpires’ camp is put on yearly to certify umpires for the upcoming year’s post-season state baseball tournaments. The event will also bring in 26 high school teams from all over the state to compete, with 18 of those being from out of the area. Up to 80 umpires from around the state are expected to participate and will be calling the exhibition baseball games as part of their training. Coaches, family and friends will be traveling with the teams as well.

The games will be played at a handful of fields throughout Mobile County – St. Paul’s Episcopal School, Spring Hill College, UMS-Wright Preparatory School, Saraland High School, and St. Luke’s Episcopal School.
