Alabama Bass Trail to Snag Their Next Catch This Weekend on the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta

Apr 6th, 2016

SARALAND, Ala. – Some of the best anglers from Alabama and the eastern United States will compete on the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta when the region plays host to the 2016 Alabama Bass Trail (ABT) South Divisional Qualifier Tournament this weekend.

Saraland will serve as the host city for the event with the Captain’s Meeting kicking off the angler’s weekend this Friday, April 8th in the auditorium of Saraland High School. All 324 anglers will be on the water by dawn on Saturday for the all-day tournament which will launch from Live Oaks Landing. The Mobile-Tensaw River Delta is the third stop (of five), along the trail, before hitting the championship tournament held on Lake Eufaula in October 2016. The Mobile Sports Authority and Visit Mobile are co-hosts for this weekend's tournament.

“The ABT staff is extremely excited to be back on the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. The Mobile Delta is the most diverse body of water that we travel to.  We will be bringing 162 teams/324 anglers to Mobile. The estimated economic impact should be close to $500,000.” mentioned ABT Program Director, Kay Donaldson.

"The Mobile-Tensaw River Delta is one of the most beautiful and most treasured fisheries in the U.S.  So, we once again welcome the Alabama Bass Trail back to our bountiful waters for the 3rd straight year for one of their five south divisional tournaments. We wish all the anglers the best as they strive to qualify for the 2016 ABT Championship to be held in October" said Mobile Sports Authority’s Executive Director, Danny Corte.

The Alabama Bass Trail was formed in 2012 as a cooperative effort between the State of Alabama, the Alabama Tourism Department, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association. The Trail features the state’s vast array of beautiful fisheries.
